Washoe Health Officer assures Nevadans COVID-19 vaccine is safe

Washoe County Health Officer Kevin Dick is assuring Nevadans that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is safe. He says the vaccine has a 95% efficacy rate and went through rigorous trials in tens of thousands of Americans. Some had reactions-we often see with vaccines like headache, fever, or soreness at injection site. But it’s well-tolerated generally.

Victims identified in separate weekend crashes near Fernley

We now have the identities of two local people killed in separate crashes in snowy conditions over the weekend near Fernley. Melanie Taylor, 50, Fallon died after her vehicle rolled over on US 50 Alternate. Luis Aguilar-Hurtado of Sparks was killed in a truck rollover Saturday on I-80 near Nightingale Road.
