Building set to be demolished burns in downtown Reno

Fire breaks out in an abandoned building in downtown Reno. Reno firefighters were called to Ralston Street and Church Lane Saturday night, where they found some downed power lines. No one was hurt. The building was a total loss, but was going to be demolished anyhow. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sand Harbor limits beachgoers

Sand Harbor beach and social distancing don’t go hand-in-hand; that means there’s a limit on how many people can be there. This past weekend, the beach took about 300 cars-turning away another 200 or so. At least 150 persons who parked illegally and tried to walk across the street were fined.

MGM Furloughs Could Turn into Layoffs

The furloughs of more than 60,000 MGM workers could turn into layoffs. The company’s CEO says a tourism forecast predicts some furloughed workers may not report back for another six months. It also shows travel demand is expected to decrease into early 2021. Employees can remain furloughed until August 31st-when the company can begin layoffs.
