Washoe Co. announces superintendent finalists

Washoe County is one step closer to having a new schools superintendent. The board has narrowed down the list of candidates to five names. They are interim superintendent Kristen McNeil, Alexa Cunningham, Warren Shillingburg, Marshall Tuck, and Antwan Wilson. The candidates will be discussed at public meetings next month.

Brush fire doused in Reno

A brush fire breaks out in Reno. Firefighters say the 20 ft. by 20 ft. fire broke out along the river behind the 1500 block of East Commercial Row Tuesday. No one was hurt. Firefighters say the fire was human sparked.

Reno’s indoor football team taking next season off

Reno’s indoor football team is taking next season off. After getting a shot at the championship the Reno Express’s general manager tells The Reno Gazette-Journal he needs to fundraise to keep the team viable. Brandon Berner says the team plans to return to the Reno Events Center in 2021.

Shooting in Sparks This Morning

A man was injured in a shooting early this morning in Sparks. According to the Sparks Police Department, officers found a man had been shot in the leg in the parking lot at 4005 Moorpark Court around 12:45 a.m. His injury was non-life-threatening. Officials still looking for a suspect.

Quake Reported Near Truckee

The USGS reported an earthquake happened north of Truckee on Tuesday afternoon. Officials report is was a 3.95 magnitude earthquake. It happened 17 kilometers northwest of Truckee. People said they felt rumblings in Verdi.
