Washoe County adds a large number of COVID-19 recoveries and a small number of new cases for a change. The county saw 420 recoveries and just 71 new cases Monday. There were also no new deaths. The death toll stands at 567.
More Nevada National Guard troops are in Washington D.C, ahead of Inauguration Day. Two specialized units of about 30 members were set to go before the riot inside the U.S. Capitol building, but now 200 additional soldiers from Nevada have been deployed.

Nevada officials reported 1,221 new coronavirus cases and 5 new deaths on Monday, bringing the statewide totals to 262,794 confirmed cases and 3,779 deaths since the start of the pandemic. The single-day increases were notably less compared to spikes reported earlier in January.
