Veteran U.S. Congressman Mark Amodei of northern Nevada is considering a run for governor. An Amodei aide confirmed that the Republican is thinking about a run in 2022. Former U.S. Senator Dean Heller and former attorney general Adam Laxalt may also challenge Governor Steve Sisolak. Laxalt lost to Sisolak in 2018.
A judge has fined Nevada’s Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation $1,000 for failing to expedite unemployment benefits. Judge Barry Breslow found the state office in contempt of court for violating a July 22nd order to speed up federal pandemic unemployment payment processing.
