Judge fines NV unemployment office for failing to expedite benefits

A judge has fined Nevada’s Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation $1,000 for failing to expedite unemployment benefits. Judge Barry Breslow found the state office in contempt of court for violating a July 22nd order to speed up federal pandemic unemployment payment processing. As many as 9,000 Nevadans were affected by the delays. Now, the office has until Christmas Eve to get those people their back-due benefits.
