Sparks police arrest a man in connection with the beating of an elderly person. Police say Adrian Morales beat the victim-who was someone he knew-with a blunt object-inside a home on Sparks Boulevard last month. The victim suffered serious head injuries, but survived the attack. Morales was arrested after barricading himself inside an apartment Tuesday. … Read more

Fire burns a homeless encampment in Reno. Firefighters were called to an area along North McCarran Boulevard near Highway 395 and Northtowne Lane Tuesday afternoon. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Deputies three men in connection with a BB gun shooting spree in Carson City this week. Deputies say the men caused thousands of dollars in damages to several locations, including the Nevada Secretary of State’s office, Democrat and Republican headquarters in the city. Police believe more suspects may be at large.

The Washoe County Health District says a Washoe County man in his 20s has died of hantavirus. The district says the resident was likely exposed to rodent droppings and later hospitalized.
