State unemployment office gets new leader

The state office that oversees employment has a new interim leader-during a time when its needed more than ever. Governor Steve Sisolak has appointed Heather Korbulic to lead the department as it sees record unemployment due to coronavirus. Korbulic was formerly the director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange.

Stay-at home orders to be lifted soon in El Dorado County

Stay-at home orders in El Dorado County are expected to be lifted Thursday as the area has nearly four dozen cases of coronavirus. The latest person to test positive is a man between the ages of 50 and 64 who lives in the southern part of the county. The area has seen 39 recoveries.

2 men cited for illegal dumping in Sun Valley

Two men are cited for illegal dumping in Sun Valley. Washoe County sheriff’s deputies say witnesses alerted them to two men who dumped a white Ford Explorer in an open field off Pearl Drive Sunday. The men admitted to the act and had to SUV towed off the field.

Raley’s donates $100K in prepackaged meals to northern NV, CA

Raley’s Market has donated $100,000 in packaged meals and fresh produce so seniors in northern Nevada and northern California can eat during the coronavirus pandemic. The local Office of Volunteers of America delivers 1,100 meals a day to its sites-and now, nearly 6-thousand meals a week to isolated seniors, the disabled, the homeless, and veterans.
