A Carson High graduate, who’s the son of the school’s athletic director has died. Jake Roman was killed after he struck a tree while snowmobiling in California Friday. Roman graduated in 2017. He was a football player and wrestler. His mother is a math teacher at Carson Middle.
Two dozen dogs are seized from the home of a Silver Springs breeder. Lyon County animal control tells KOLO-TV they seized the pups from Teeter’s Tots. They’re investigating after at least two dogs were sold with serious health issues tied to parasites that can also infect people.
The Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range will close next week while safety improvements are made to the facility. Work includes modifying the height of the backstops and addressing drainage issues. They’ll also update signage and install target frame holders at shooting bays.

A Heavenly Mountain Resort employee is found dead atop the mountain Saturday. Deputies say they found 36-year-old Chrostopher Nicholson of South Lake Tahoe unconscious near the expert trail of Mott Canyon Saturday; he was taken by Care Flight to Carson Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
A driver is cited after hitting a boy on a bike. It happened at Pyramid Highway and McCarran Boulevard last night. Police say the driver turned onto Pyramid Highway and hit the 11-year-old. He suffered minor injuries.
