Man killed in Gardnerville Ranchos shooting

A man is killed in a shooting in Douglas County. It happened Saturday night on the 14-hundred block of Bumblee Drive in Gardnerville Ranchos. Police arrived on-scene to find a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. They say everyone involved has been detained.

NV unemployment rate triples in past week

Nevada’s unemployment rate has tripled over the last week after the governor announced the closure of all non-essential businesses in the state. The department say more than 6,300 new claims were filed compared to 2,300 last week, marking the largest week-to-week increase since 1987 when record-keeping began.

Reno Events Center reopens as homeless shelter during COVID-19 outbreak

The Reno Events Center is now serving as a homeless shelter during the coronavirus crisis. News 4 reports since it’s empty with all concerts and events cancelled to prevent further spread of COVID-19, it’s now reopening to accommodate 400 homeless people-who can remain socially distant from one another. It will also have hand-washing stations.

Bicyclist struck near Washoe Lake State Park

A bicyclist is truck by a vehicle near Washoe Lake State Park. It happened Sunday afternoon. Police say a horse trailer-being towed by a pick-up truck, hit a female bicyclist. Deputies say the driver kept going-but that’s because they didn’t realize they’d hit someone. The bicyclist suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
