One person is hospitalized after an apartment fire in Reno. Firefighters were called to Terraview Apartments on Mt. Anderson Street last night. They arrived to find heavy smoke. They contained the flames to one unit, but an adjoining apartment may have sustained some damage. At least 3 people are now homeless.
Deputies in Lyon County and the FBI are looking for a suspected bank robber. They say someone hit the Nevada State Bank in Fernley around 4 p.m. Wednesday. The robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
A Reno man gets 25 years behind bars for producing and sharing child porn. Prosecutors say 27-year-old Eric McCartt joined a chat and traded sexually explicit images of children under the age of 12. Police have identified a man who led police on a chase through Washoe Valley and then barricaded himself, armed, inside his vehicle in Carson City. He is 51-year-old Eugene Griffin. Griffin ultimately surrendered peacefully. He faces a host of charges including assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving.
A Las Vegas woman is sentenced in a Medicaid fraud scam. Attorney General Aaron Ford says April Brown with Dynamic Minds Family Services was billing for services that were not provided to Medicaid recipients between 2017 and 2018. We now have the name of a man killed in a Valentine’s Day shooting in Reno. He is 62-year-old Leroy Suza. Suza was shot and killed in a dispute between neighbors at the Rosewood Apartments on Mira Loma. So far, no one’s been charged.
