Washoe County Superintendent Kristen McNeill is retiring. Her announcement came Thursday during a news conference. McNeill says she’ll retire at the end of this school year, calling it the right move for her and her family. She’s been in the district role since 2019.

A new pay equity law goes into effect today. SB 293 requires employers to disclose salary ranges. Employers are also now forbidden from asking about your salary history. Advocates say it levels the playing field for employees. Employers who violate the new law may face a fine of up to $5,000.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is warning about a new scam. Deputies say people are offering to move property long distances, they get payment upfront and send a moving truck-but the items are never delivered to a new residence. Instead, they end up in a storage unit and sold due to unpaid fees.
A family of four is temporarily displaced after a fire broke out in a bathroom of their apartment on Ridgeview Drive Thursday night.
