New military-style school opening in NV

High school drop-outs may be heading for a military environment. KOLO-TV reports the state is turning the old Fire Sciences Academy into the Battle Born Youth Challenge Academy. The school will be run by the Nevada National Guard, with a boot-camp style model. The first classes beginning in July.

Washoe Co. commissioners approve COVID-19 mitigation plans

Washoe County’s COVID reopening plans are heading to the state’s COVID-19 task force Thursday for approval. In plans approved by commissioners Tuesday, businesses would no longer be subject to capacity restrictions beginning May 1st. Salvadorian national arrested in Churchill County

A Salvadorian national, who federal authorities say was in the U.S. illegally, has been arrested in Nevada. Diego Ayala-Benitez was arrested in conjunction with ICE and the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office and Fallon Police last week. He’s been wanted in El Salvador since 2016 on gang participation charges as well as extortion and weapons counts.

Carson City deputies investigate car burglaries

Carson City deputies are investigating a string of car burglaries. They say the burglaries have been happening along Hot Springs Road since late March. In the burglaries, deputies say car windows were smashed and property was taken.

NHP Investigates Rollover Crash

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a rollover crash on I-580 in Washoe Valley that sent a man to the hospital.
