Washoe County adds 3 COVID deaths, 173 persons hospitalized

Washoe County adds three COVID-19 deaths for a total of 567. The latest deaths involve two men in their 70s and a woman in her 60s. All had underlying health conditions. The county added 230 cases and more than 350 recoveries. As many as 173 persons are hospitalized with the virus.

Ice skating rink in south Reno could open soon

An ice skating rink in south Reno could open this week. Reno Ice’s anticipated arrival has been delayed a dew times with construction beginning on the first of two rinks last April after a five-year fundraising effort. More Washoe County School District employees are getting hteir COVID-19 vaccine shots Monday. As many as 2,300 employees are rolling up their sleeves at the Livestock Events Center. Health officials in Nevada on Sunday reported 1,483 new coronavirus cases and 18 more deaths amid a continuing COVID-19 surge. On Saturday, officials reported a daily record high of 63 COVID-19 deaths along with 2,040 additional confirmed cases.
