Nevada facing second epidemic: a mental health crisis

Nevada health officials are coming face-to-face with a second epidemic. They say depression and anxiety are soaring amid the pandemic. Crisis hotlines have seen a dramatic increase in calls. The Reno Gazette- Journal reports the increase is 200 percent – with more than 10,000 calls these past 11 months compared to 3,300 calls last year. Many are first-time callers. Experts say COVID-19 was mentioned as a stressor in about half the calls.
