Nineteen WCSD Schools have COVID-19 Cases

Nineteen schools in the Washoe County School District now have at least one coronavirus case. All schools are undergoing enhanced cleaning protocols per health district and CDC guidelines. The School District has confirmed three newly confirmed positive case of COVID-19 Wednesday at Stead Elementary School, Double Diamond Elementary School, and at Nick Poulakidas Elementary.

WCSO Receives Electronic Tablets for Inmates

Nevada Nonpartisan Voters on the Rise

The number of registered voters in Nevada increased last month, with Republicans adding more new voters to their rolls than Democrats but unaffiliated voters outpacing both parties according to Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske. Statewide, Democrats make up 38% of Nevada’s active voters, while Republicans make up 33% and nonpartisan voters make up 23%.

Health officials are reporting 205 recoveries and 55 new coronavirus cases in Washoe County on Monday. The 205 recoveries drop Washoe County’s active caseload to 1,025 which is the lowest it’s been in weeks.

Eviction Moratorium Extended

A day before Nevada’s eviction moratorium was set to expire, Gov. Steve Sisolak announced plans to extend it for 45 days to provide relief to an estimated 250,000 renters facing the prospect of losing their housing because of the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.
