Wildfires have scorched a record two million acres in California this year–with far more in tap to burn as several fires rage in the state. All eight national forests in the southern part of the state as we head into fall-the most dangerous time for wildfires.

Lyon County sees 1st COVID-19 case in a school

The first case of COVID-19 surfaces in Lyon County schools. It was reported at Fernley High School. Anyone who’s had close contact will be notified, and students who must quarantine will be offered remote learning opportunities. There’s also been a new confirmed case of COVID-19 at Reed High School in Washoe County.

Air Quality Limits In-Person Classes Today

An unofficial gathering on the playa in the Black Rock Desert marks this year’s Burning Man–which for the first time ever was canceled due to COVID-19. Several thousand were said to have gathered in camps spread out across 200 square miles. State restrictions limit gatherings to 50 persons. The BLM monitored the event.
