2018 fatal police-involved shooting deemed ‘justified’ by Washoe DA

A 2018 police-involved shooting is declared “justified” by the Washoe County DA. 21-year-old Nicolas Sedano was shot and killed after detectives, investigating a burglary, say he accelerated in a stolen vehicle towards a Reno Police officer, striking him. Sedano went through a chain link fence and crashed. He later died.

If your license is expired–or will expire soon–you’ve got longer to renew it. The DMV says has extended renewal deadlines to November 12th. By October, many may be able to renew online. A one-year extension for drivers ages 65 and older remains in effect.

1 tests positive for COVID-19 at Van Gorder Elementary

A case of COVID-19 surfaces at Van Gorder Elementary School in Sparks. It’s unclear whether the case involves a student or a staffer, but school officials say they don’t believe anyone from school will have to quarantine. Meantime, Washoe County’s death toll from COVID-19 rises to 147. The county added 45 cases and 75 recoveries.
