Apple Store at The Summit closes temporarily due to COVID-19

The Apple Store at The Summit in South Reno closed temporarily amid the pandemic. A sign on the door says closed until further notice–the website says closed at least through August 10th. In a statement, Apple says the closure is out of an abundance of caution and is tied to COVID-19 spread in communities.

Protests expected this weekend in Douglas County

Douglas County is preparing for peaceful protests this weekend over controversy between the sheriff’s office and the local library’s draft diversity statement. Protests are expected Saturday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. in areas that the sheriff’s office has established as “free speech zones” on either side of headquarters.

Reno Doctor Dies

A Reno doctor died Sunday after falling while climbing Mount Humphreys in Fresno County. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said 52-year-old Paul Sheykhzadeh fell off some large boulders along the western slope of the mountain. Search and rescue helicopter recovered his body Monday.
