Cause of Numbers Fire Released

Fire officials said the over 18,000-acre Numbers Fire that broke out off U.S. 395 south of Gardnerville last week was likely caused by hot particles escaping a failed semi-truck exhaust system, according to the Bureau of Land Management. As of Monday afternoon, the fire was 100 percent contained with three houses and 37 outbuildings burned.

Mobile home destroyed by fire in Sun Valley

Fire destroys a mobile home in Sun Valley over the weekend. Firefighters were called to Fifth Avenue near Sun Valley Boulevard Saturday night. They made quick work of the flames, and one person got out safely, but their home is a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Traner Pool in Reno reopens

Traner Pool in Reno reopened today. Swim sessions are happening in 90-minute increments each day at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Sessions are limited to 50 participants and are on a first-come first-served basis. Attendees must wear face coverings at all times unless in the pool-they also must bring their own chair.

2 more deaths from COVID-19 reported at Northern NV State Vets Home

Two more people at the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home have died from COVID-19. The latest deaths involve a 90-year-old U.S. Navy veteran who was being treated at the Reno VA Hospital and a 95-year-old spouse of a Korean War Navy veteran who was hospitalized at Renown. 13 veterans and 20 staffers remain COVID-19 positive.
