Six Nevada firefighters are heading to Australia to help combat wildfires that are ravaging the country. The firefighters are from Carson City, Elko, and Las Vegas. They’re on a month-long mission that includes aerial and front lines support.
The Reno Tahoe Airport will be looking for a new leader. Marily Mora is set to retire at the end of June. The board says it will conduct a national search to replace Mora, who took over as president and CEO almost seven years ago. She’s credited with leading an air service renaissance.
A woman is arrested in connection with a double shooting at a gas station across the state line. Police say the suspect, who hasn’t been identified, killed one person and left another seriously hurt in the shooting at the Shell gas staton on North Main Street in Bishop Monday night.
Reno Police are still looking for the driver who mowed down a Wooster High School student in October. 14-year-old Aliah Lucena was fatally struck on Harvard Way. Police say the driver of the red truck that hit her fled the scene. That truck was found in Stead, but its driver hasn’t been located.

Developers are asking a Nevada judge to overturn a moratorium on new groundwater pumping north of Reno that critics say are hampering efforts to build homes to help address the region’s housing crisis. Eastbound Interstate 80 was closed as CHP worked to clear a crash involving a big rig. At least 2 other vehicle were involved. It happened just after 11:30 Tuesday night. Investigators have not said what caused the crash or released information on injuries.
