Report: Harrah’s Reno could be sold

It may be the end of an era in Reno. The Nevada Independent reports Harrah’s Reno is being sold to an LLC which plans to convert the property into a business entity-with no gaming on-site. If the deal goes through, it would end the Harrah’s name in Reno after 83 years.

Reno Police investigate suspicious death

Reno police are investigating a suspicious death. Police say they found a vehicle had crashed into a tree on Sutro Street between East 9th Street and Carville Drive in Reno. Inside that Jeep, a man was dead, but police say his injuries aren’t consistent with a car crash; it remains under investigation.

Cortez Masto moves to make walking to school safer

After 20 Washoe County students are hit by vehicles this school year, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is taking steps to make their walks to schools safer. She’s sponsoring the Safe Routes to All School Acts. If passed, it would give funding to districts for safety, and training and equipment that would make kids safer.

Dayton man gets 2 decades for fatal hit-and-run

A Dayton man gets two decades in prison in connection with a fatal hit-and-run over the summer. James Parisi, 39, struck and killed Michael Kuntz, who was walking his five dogs near Six Mile Canyon Road in August of 2019. Parisi pleaded guilty in the case.

Nevada Takes in Record in Cannabis Tax Money

Nevada collected a monthly record of nearly $9.8 million in marijuana taxes in October. State Department of Taxation figures reported Monday represented an increase of more than $1 million in recreational and medical cannabis tax revenues from September, and a jump of close to $1.6 million from October 2018.
