Sparks police arrest a man after his dogs attacked a 10-year-old boy twice in as many weeks. They handcuffed Zacchaeus Williams on a felony count of child abuse. The most recent attack Monday sent the boy to Renown for extensive wounds and internal injuries that required surgery.
A higher up in the administration at Carson High School has been placed on administrative leave. News 4 reports Carson High School’s Vice Principal Marc Rodina was arrested January 11th on a DUI charge.
A vehicle backs into a woman and a child in Spanish Springs. It happened near Avila Court. Sparks Police say a driver was backing out of a parking spot when she hit them. Injuries were minor. The driver was cited for unsafe driving.
A new scam is targeting rural Nevada households. Lyon County sheriff’s deputies say someone is posing as the Nevada Rural Housing Authority asking people for their social security number and financial information to implement a weatherization program. The authority says it will never go door-to-door soliciting applications for weatherization.
The Oakland Raiders are now officially the Las Vegas Raiders. The pro football team announced its name change Wednesday. Shots are fired in Reno. Police were called to Sierra Street near the Eldorado at 3 a.m. Thursday. They arrived on-scene to find shell casings, but no victims.
Fire breaks out at The Sands. Reno firefighters arrived at the casino to find smoke in the basement, but had trouble locating the source of the fire. Eventually, they found a chair on fire on the second-floor. Nobody was evacuated, and no one was hurt.
