A teen is struck by a vehicle in Sparks. It happened near Greenbrae and Rock boulevards Monday. Police say the teen’s injuries are minor. The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
Nevada’s largest utility has filed a request for more than $30-million dollars in rate reductions for ratepayers beginning in October. Under the request filed with the state Public Commission, ratepayers in northern Nevada would enjoy about a $24.1 million dollar savings.

A shed in Spanish Springs is destroyed by fire. Firefighters say hot ashes being stored in a plastic container sparked the fire early Saturday. No one was hurt, and firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to a nearby home. They’re reminding you to always dispose of ashes in a metal can.

Truckee Meadows firefighters make quick work of a small brush fire. Firefighters were called to Sun Valley, Saturday where they say someone grinding metal sparked a fire on what was a windy day. No one was hurt, and no structures were damaged.
