Local doctors fear people are avoiding hospitals, even if they need treatment

Despite hospital restrictions easing, those checking in to seek care are down 50 percent at Northern Nevada Medical Center. Local doctors fear COVID-19 is keeping some who need medical attention away. The top is also affecting hospital revenue with a new analysis showing hospitals across the country losing 1-point-4-billion in combined revenue per day.

Washoe County Braces for Budget Shortfall

Washoe County is projecting an estimated $24.6 million budget shortfall for the 2020 fiscal year largely due to the coronavirus pandemic. Another Nevada Quake this Morning

A magnitude-5.0 earthquake rattled Western Nevada this morning, just days after a 6.5 quake shook the same region near Mina and Tonopah. According to the United States Geological Society, the quake struck around 28 miles west-northwest of Tonopah at 5:36 a.m. Hundreds of aftershocks have been reported since the original quake struck.

Latest COVID-19 Numbers

Nevada Health Response reported that there are now 7,046 positive cases of coronavirus. 373 people have died from the virus statewide. The Washoe County Health District reports the number of cases in the county is 1,295 and still 48 deaths. There are currently 558 active cases of coronavirus, and 689 cases of recovery.

Carson City sees 3rd death tied to COVID-19

Carson City saws its third death tied to COVID-19 Monday. Health officials say the latest victim was a man in his 80s. The Quad-County region now has 145 cases-with 102 recoveries. Sisolak appoints new coronavirus response director

Nevada has a new statewide director of coronavirus response. Caleb Cage has been appointed to the role by Governor Steve Sisolak. Cage is former head of the state Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security; more recently, he worked as an assistant vice chancellor for the Nevada System of Higher Education.
