South Lake Tahoe has a new police chief

South Lake Tahoe has a new police chief. David Stevenson, who’s lived in South Lake for most of his live started as a patrol officer and worked his way up to lieutenant before becoming chief. He’s been with the department for 25 years. He’ll be sworn in next Monday.

Latest COVID-19 Numbers

There are 35 new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County and 36 recoveries, officials reported Monday. No new deaths were reported. Gov. Steve Sisolak announced plans to implement a long-term reopening strategy that allows for more granular decision-making as the coronavirus continues to spread and leaves Nevada unable to follow its original reopening plan. Sisolak’s new strategy will replace broad guidelines with narrower reopening criteria, evaluating data on a business-by-business basis rather than targeting entire industries.

A Wolf Pack linebacker is seriously hurt after being struck in a hit-and-run in California. The team says junior James Fotofili suffered a skull fracture when he was hit in a road rage incident in Sacramento last week.

Motorcyclist killed in weekend crash in Reno

A motorcyclist is killed in a crash over the weekend in Reno. Police say the 29-year-old lost control and veered off Galletti Way near East Fourth street near the Sparks border Saturday morning. He then hit an object. He was found unconscious and pronounced dead at the hospital.

Shots fired by UNR’s campus

A drive-by shooting near UNR’s campus is under investigation. Police say someone fired shots from a moving vehicle Sunday morning outside the YOUnion Apartments off Enterprise Road. Several shell casings were found and at least one car was struck by a bullet. No one was hurt.
