Two more people have died from COVID-19 in Washoe County, bringing the overall death toll to 118. The latest deaths involve a woman in her 40s with no underlying health conditions and a man in his 70s with underlying health conditions. The county added 123 cases and 80 recoveries.
An elderly Dayton man dies in a crash in South Lake Tahoe. California troopers say the man lost control of his vehicle going around a curve, it flipped 150 feet down an embankment before hitting a tree Wednesday. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Hog Fire that’s been burning for more than two weeks near Susanville is nearly contained. At last check, the more than 9,500-acre fire destroyed two buildings though as many as 170 were threatened for a time. The fire, which sent smoke into Washoe County, is now 98 percent contained.
