An unofficial gathering on the playa in the Black Rock Desert marks this year’s Burning Man–which for the first time ever was canceled due to COVID-19. Several thousand were said to have gathered in camps spread out across 200 square miles. State restrictions limit gatherings to 50 persons. The BLM monitored the event.

Washoe County adds three new COVID-19 deaths–for a total of 146. The latest deaths involve a man in his 50s and a woman in her 80s with underlying health conditions and a man in his 60s with no known health issues. The county added 94 new cases and 60 recoveries.
The Carson City School District sees its first COVID-19 case. The district says the positive case is in a person who works in the transportation department.
