Washoe County adds 2 dozen COVID-19 cases, recoveries rise

Washoe County adds under two dozen COVID-19 cases–and recoveries really soared–we saw 229 reported Sunday. Statewide, though, Nevada saw 772 new cases Friday, the largest number since mid-August. The spike is attributed to a delay in lab processing in the southern part of the state.

1 dead in vehicle rollover near Wadsworth

One person is dead and another hurt in a single-vehicle wreck near Wadsworth. It happened on State Route 447 Sunday. Troopers say the vehicle rolled over–leaving the passenger dead at the scene; the driver had to be airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.

Four people were injured in a fire at East Fourth Street apartments, according to the Reno Fire Department on Sunday. The injuries included smoke inhalation and burns. Mobile Home Fire Total Loss

A mobile home was destroyed Saturday in a fire that burned off Interstate 80 in Storey County, according to the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District. The home, which was located near Canal Road, was considered a total loss. The fire spread to the wildland, but burned just 1/4 of an acre. No one was injured.

Police make arrest in hit-and-run in Reno

Police arrest a person, who they say was behind the wheel of a hit-and-run near the Peppermill Casino. Police say it happened last night on Wrondel Way where a pick-up truck collided head-on with another truck-pushing that truck into a parked car. The victim was hospitalized. Police haven’t yet identified the person they’ve arrested.

A new performing arts venue could be coming to the Tahoe area. The Tahoe Regional Arts Foundation wants to put a visual and performing arts center on a 22-acre piece of land near Northstar.
