Stabbing victim identified

We now know the name of a 14-year-old girl who was fatally stabbed last Sunday. The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office says Chloe Edwards died after being stabbed in the chest.

Sparks chooses new fire chief

The City of Sparks has chosen a new fire chief. Walt White is currently the chief of the Amador Fire Protection District. His contract goes before the city council for final approval next week. He previously served as a chief in Sacramento.

Teenage girl charged with murder

A 14-year-old girl faces and open murder charge after allegedly stabbing another 14-year-old girl on Sunday afternoon. The victim and the suspect apparently got into a fight on Soft Winds Drive, according to KOLO. A 15-year-old boy is accused of assault with a deadly weapon. The victim died at a hospital.

No injuries in structure fire

Fire crews responded to a commercial structure fire in Sparks on Monday afternoon. The fire broke out in the 600 block of Spice Islands Drive. The fire was burning in a commercial coffee roaster, according to KOLO. No injuries were reported.

Two dead in plane crash

Two people are adead after a small plane crashed near Colfax yesterday. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to the 20,000 block of Dog Bar Road after getting a report that a small plane had gone down in the area. The feds will conduct an investigation into what happened.

One person hurt in apartment fire

One person was hurt fleeing a fire in Sparks over the weekend. KOLO said the fire was reported at about 5 a.m. in the 1900 block of A Street, in west Sparks. The apartment had major damage and is not inhabitable. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Wreck turns fatal

A Reno man involved in a crash on February 8th has died. The red Corvette the man was traveling in collided with a tree on Longley Lane and Aircenter Circle. 60-year-old Patrick Magee died from his injuries at the hospital a couple of days after the wreck.

Governor ends state of emergency

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has ended the state’s state of emergency, which was first declared on Friday because of a gas pipeline distruption. The Governor said the order had been given to ensure adequate fuel supply during the repairs. The pipeline had resumed operations on Saturday.
