The site will also address disruptions to local food supply chains due to COVID-19.
In the Quad-County region, COVID-19 recoveries are outpacing deaths and new cases. The county added 189 recoveries and 17 new cases Monday. The area also saw one new death in a Lyon County woman in her 60s. Data from the last several days have shown similar trends.
The start of the new legislative session looked different in Carson City. Swearing in ceremonies for new lawmakers Monday were subdued with no loved ones gathering. The latest storm has doubled snowpack at Mount Rose. Hydrologists say 8 inches of water content has been added to snowpack. With snow 74 inches deep at the summit, snowpack is 78 percent of normal. It’s also good news for Lake Tahoe which saw precipitation on the surface rise significantly.
Washoe County deputies cited nearly 100 drivers were cited during increased distracted driving enforcement. Of those 25 were cited for distracted driving while 19 were cited for speeding. Nearly 50 were cited for motor vehicle registration violations. Another Joining Forces campaign focusing on impaired driving starts later this week.
