Washoe County adds a single COVID-19 death for a total of 619. The latest death involves a man in his 80s with underlying health conditions. Recoveries far outpaced new infections at 333 compared to 80. Total active cases in Washoe are below 10-thousand. Just over 100 people here are hospitalized with the virus.

Reno police are investigating a shooting. They say it happened last night on Tybo Avenue near Silverada Boulevard and Nyala Street. The extent of the victim’s injuries is unknown. Police say the suspect hasn’t been arrested.

An outbreak of salmonella is killing finches in the Lake Tahoe region. The Tahoe Institute for Natural Science and Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care have both issued alerts this week asking the public to keep an eye out for dead birds. Dead siskins have been found in backyards in Carson Valley and Truckee.

Reno police say a drunk driver slammed into an Amazon Prime truck. It happened yesterday afternoon near West Pinenut Court. Police say Aaron Horton was driving erratically when he realized the Amazon truck driver was calling police and rammed his vehicle. Horton was hospitalized; the Amazon driver suffered minor injuries. They say the burn’s risk of spreading is low because of the ground snow coverage and current weather conditions.
