A new CDC study says nine of 10 people who their first COVID-19 vaccine shot are getting the second. The study of 12.5 million vaccinations nationwide, found that in Washoe County more than 97% of people are coming back for their second dose.
Nevadans 55 and older with certain health conditions are now eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine at local pharmacies. It comes as Washoe County was expected to receive more than 16,000 vaccine doses today – that’s a significant uptick from the usual 9,000 weekly doses. A man gets at least a decade behind bars for starting a fire that destroyed three buildings in downtown Lovelock. Oscar Cruz-Gomez was convicted of three counts of arson in connection with the November 2019 fire that destroyed Pershing’s Pub, a law office, and a bookstore. A 19-year-old is charged with murder in a shooting Saturday on South Virgnia Street. Police say Fabian Bernal opened fire on a vehicle, shooting a man inside it. That man later died at the hospital.
A 23-year-old man is charged in connection with a shots fired case in Spanish Springs. Police say Kyler Acker fired shots into a home on Martell Place this morning. No one was hurt.
The deadline for Nevada lawmakers to introduce new bills to be considered this legislative session has been postponed. State lawmakers have pushed the deadline to March 22nd. We can expect to see proposals on energy policy initiatives and reforms to the state’s unemployment system.
