A person is hurt after a fight in Reno. Police say two people got into a fight –one brandished a knife and the other armed with a baseball bat — went at it on the 500 block of Linden Street last night. One person was hospitalized.
Reno is getting a new bishop. Bishop Daniel Mueggenborg will be installed as the city’s eighth bishop in a special mass today at St. Rose of Lima Church. Mueggenborg replaces Bishop Randolph Calvo who is retiring.
Washoe County deputies are still looking for two suspected credit card thieves, who they say struck again. Ford Motor Company is investing $50 million in a Carson City start-up. They’re partnering with Redwood Materials to recycle electric vehicle batteries. Redwood Materials is founded by Tesla co-founder JB Straubel.
Reno City Council will consider a ban on whips in downtown Reno. Reno police say whip usage went up more than 60% over the last few years, especially in fights. The ordinance, if passed, would require anyone carrying or using a whip to get a permit in downtown, midtown, the Riverwalk, and Idlewild Park neighborhoods. … Read more
A body found in Lake Tahoe has been identified. Police say the body belongs to 77-year-old Manouchehr Tajeran who they believe was homeless. Tajeran’s body was found 50 feet from the shore by a person walking on September 6th. Police say he died from accidental drowning.
