Reno cracks down on massage parlors

Reno is cracking down on massage parlors. In response to human trafficking concerns, they’re now requiring federal background checks on all massage business owners. They’re also requiring that the facilities have no recording devices, no tinted windows, and no ATMs on site. They also can’t operate 24 hours a day.

Baby bear spotted in North Valleys

Residents of the North Valleys are on high-alert after a young bear was spotted in trees in a neighborhood off Silver Shores Drive. KOLO-TV reports the bear was caught on video Monday. Officials are reminding folks to secure their trash.

4th person dies from flu in Washoe County

A fourth person has died from the flu in Washoe County, according to the health district. Three other deaths in Washoe County have been among persons younger than 40. At least 96 people have been hospitalized with flu this season.

Abandoned car burns in Sparks

An abandoned car on fire sends thick black smoke into the air. Sparks firefighters were called to Sullivan Lane and El Rancho Boulevard. They made quick work of the fire, but don’t know how it was sparked.
