Gunfire in Reno. Police say one person is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being shot on the 26-hundred block of Yori Avenue Sunday afternoon. Police say a suspect has been detained in connection with the shooting.
Those living in the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony are under a curfew. From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., residents are under a stay-home order unless they’re essential personnel or need emergency medical treatment. Violators of the curfew face fines and jail time. The entire state is under a stay-at home order.
Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Saturday that the federal government has approved Nevada’s request to declare a major disaster declaration for the state. He said that move will unlock additional federal assistance for residents affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Nevada is reporting 94 new coronavirus cases, pushing the statewide total to 1,836, but the state Health and Human Services Department’s website shows the death toll remaining at 46. The body of a Pleasant Valley man who went missing last week has been found. 57-year-old Bryde Bates’ car was found near Topaz Lake Park. His body was found at a nearby campground. His cause of death remains under investigation though deputies don’t suspect foul play.
