NV among last states to add rapid antigen tests

Nevada is one of the last states to add rapid antigen tests to its COVID-19 testing program. Experts say the new tests could give the state a better picture on how the virus is spreading. State health officials say they didn’t add the testing option sooner because they were focused on vaccines and contact tracing.

Caldor Fire near full containment

The Caldor Fire is approaching full containment. The more than 221,000-acre fire is 98% contained after six hours of rain Friday. A few hot spots remain with more than 1,000 firefighters still at the scene.

Southwest flights out of Reno-Tahoe Airport still being canceled

If you’re flying on Southwest out of the Reno-Tahoe Airport, check your flight. Three flights were canceled in and out of Reno Monday–that’s a far cry from the dozen that were canceled over the weekend. The airline continues to cite “air traffic control” issues for the cancellations nationwide, but no other airlines are impacted.

State Sen. Kieckhefer is resigning

Nevada state Senator Ben Kieckhefer, who represents parts of Washoe County and Carson City is resigning. The District 16 Republican issued a tweet this morning saying it’s been an honor and a privilege to serve and he thanked those who supported him over the past decade. He did not give a reason for stepping down.
