Fire breaks out inside a bank in Sparks. Crews were called to the Wells Fargo at Pyramid and Tyler ways late Wednesday night. Firefighters arrived to find flames inside the building. Given the late time of night, no one was inside the building. They’re still investigating the cause of the fire
A man is arrested in Washoe County on kidnap and rape charges. George Claros, 27, is accused of pointing a gun at a woman and demanding sex Monday. Police say he severely beat the woman and took her to a storage unit, where he sexually assaulted her. He’s behind bars at the Washoe County Jail.
An Oregon man wanted on a felony parole violation who was nabbed after a high-speed chase and fatal crash in Washoe County has been identified. Blake Thacker is now in custody pending extradition. As Thacker sped away from deputies in Gardnerville Ranchos, his car crashed and rolled over, killing passenger John Schulze.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Tuesday new numbers for drug overdose deaths across the US. The nation saw it’s highest number of overdose deaths in a 12-month period.
