News 4 reports bidding is open for the University of Nevada, Reno Alumni Association’s Great98 Legacy License Plate Auction. Bidding will continue through Saturday’s Homecoming festivities.
A man who started a fire that destroyed one home and damaged two others has been found guilty of five counts of arson. According to KOLO 8, the court determined that 44-year-old Matthew Kimmens started two wildfires on Joy Lake Road in south Reno in August of 2022 following a dispute with his girlfriend.
An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead inside a home on Boise Drive. KOLO 8 reports a woman was found dead there late Monday afternoon. Sparks Police say officers are investigating this as a suspicious death. There’s been no word on any possible suspects at this time.
A man was arrested for a June stabbing at Fisherman’s Park. It was early morning June 7th when police found a male on the ground deceased. The deceased male was later identified as Randal Lowery. Police say he died during an altercation with 54-year-old David Eugene Abara who now faces charges.

Murder and attempted murder charges face a Reno resident wanted in connection with a Placer County homicide. 49 year old Joseph Serafini is a former MLB pitcher and Sparks bar owner. Authorities say he allegedly killed a man and injured a woman in the incident.
For the second time this week, a magnitude three earthquake rocked the area east of Spanish Springs. The Seismology Lab at the University of Nevada, Reno measured the quake at a magnitude 3.02 at a depth of 12.42 kilometers, or 7.7 miles.
