A south Reno house fire has resulted in heavy damage to an attic, but no injuries Tuesday night. Investigators say a chimney fire escaped into the attic of a home off of Foothill Road. KOLO 8 reports the occupants of the home got out safely and no injuries were reported.
A man convicted in the first-degree murder of a University of Nevada, Reno police Sergeant has died in Las Vegas. KOLO 8 reports 53-year-old Siaosi Vanisi was convicted in the Jan. 13, 1998 robbery and murder of Sergeant George Sullivan on the campus of UNR and sentenced to death.
The South Lake Tahoe Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s and the Carson City Sheriff’s Office completed a multi-year investigation named Operation Bear Trap leading to the arrest Monday in South Lake Tahoe of suspected Surenos gang member Jose Medina.
