Donald Tatro has been selected to fill an open state Senate seat in a district that spans both Washoe County and Carson City. Both the Washoe County Board of Commissioners and the Carson City Board of Supervisors voted to appoint Tatro to the District 26 seat, vacated by Republican Ben Kieckhefer. An appointment had to come quickly so the senator could partake in an upcoming special session on redistricting.
