Wilber Martinez Guzman, who’s from El Salvador, will be tried for the 2019 murders of Connie Koontz and Sophia Renken in Douglas County and the murders of Gerald and Sharon David in Washoe County after a split-decision from the state’s highest court. Washoe County DA Chris Hicks says while he respects the decision it will lead to setbacks in the timely resolution of the case.
