More than a dozen Nevada counties remain flagged as having high or substantial risk of transmission of COVID-19. CDC data shows those counties include Washoe, Carson Churchill, Douglas, and Lyon. Storey County, which had substantial transmission last week, has moved down on the list, meaning it doesn’t need to enact a stronger mask mandate.

Meantime, Washoe County saw iits 697th death from coronavirus. This patient, a man in his 80s, health officials say had underlying health conditions, but was fully vaccinated. It’s unclear whether the man had the more contagious Delta strain of the virus.
