Governor Steve Sisolak mandates masks in schools for staff and students in grades K through 12 – regardless of vaccination status — in Washoe County. Sisolak signed an emergency directive yesterday applying to Washoe and Clark, the state’s largest counties. Statewide, all staff must wear masks in schools, but districts can have local control over whether students wear face coverings in school buildings. However, many districts like Carson and Douglas appear to be taking the CDC recommendations and will be requiring masks in school buildings. Weekly COVID testing will also be required in schools for anyone not fully vaccinated.
