Firefighters have stopped forward progress of the Meeks Fire burning on Lake Tahoe’s west shore. CalFire says a tree hit a power line, sparking the two to three-acre fire yesterday. Highway 89 reopened after being shuttered for a time. No homes were threatened though voluntary evacuations were in place.
