Attorneys for a Salvadoran immigrant charged in a quadruple murder in northern Nevada are appealing to the state’s highest court–asking that a judge overturn a ruling that allows for trial to occur in another county. Wilber Martinez-Guzman’s public defenders say Washoe County District Court lacks the jurisdiction to try Martinez-Guzman for two murders in Gardnerville and that the crimes are separate from two murders in Reno. Martinez-Guzman faces the death penalty, if convicted.
