Washoe County’s anticipated budget gap stands at $65M

Washoe County’s anticipated budget shortfall due to the coronavirus pandemic could be as high as $65 million over the next year-and-a-half. The county has already instituted a hiring and purchasing freeze. They’re also deferring capital projects and will send spend some of its cash reserves on the issue and take money from the marijuana fund. They’re expected to vote on a budget at their next meeting May 19th.
