The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Tuesday new numbers for drug overdose deaths across the US. The nation saw it’s highest number of overdose deaths in a 12-month period. Nevada is predicted to see a 36% increase from April 2020 to April 2021 in drug overdose deaths. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is focusing on the sharp rise in fentanyl-related overdose deaths. The county saw 53 fentanyl-related overdose deaths in 2020.
