This weekend’s heavy rains, while causing historic flooding in some spots, has helped raise Lake Tahoe’s water levels. The lake is now back above its natural rim after drenching rains persisted from Friday through Monday morning. The lake still has room for another 5.5 feet of water before it reaches its maximum elevation.
We’re learning more about a fatal police-involved shooting near US 395 and Golden Valley Drive last week. Deputies say Reno and Sparks police shot and killed Richard Thomas, who had a warrant out for his arrest on firearms charges. Eight people were arrested at this weekend’s Zombie Crawl in Reno. Police say five people were busted for DUI while one person was charged with a felony; the others face mismeanor charges. In 2019, the arrests were double this year’s. Zombie Crawl took last year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
