Nearly 300 new affordable housing units are opening in North Lake Tahoe and Truckee. Too often, workers can’t afford to live in the communities they serve so this will add some options in the high-cost market, adding these can be places where educators, firefighters, deputies, and other essential workers can live. Placer County officials tell The Reno Gazette-Journal the five developments were funded through public-private partnerships and put $150 million into the local economy.
